Wayne Lineker left 'unable to walk' after terrifying intensive care ordeal as nightclub owner issues health update Ibiza nightclub owner Wayne Lineker has revealed that a severe pneumonia infection has rendered him unable to walk. The brother of former Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker broke the news following a 10-day stint in intensive care. The 63-year-old revealed his health crisis through Instagram Stories on Sunday, describing the condition as "extremely dangerous" for someone his age. The businessman initially believed he was suffering from COVID-19 before fearing he might be experiencing a heart attack when symptoms worsened.Medical professionals subsequently diagnosed him with chronic pneumonia, leading to his immediate admission to intensive care. Mr Lineker has since been transferred to a respiratory ward but remains hospitalised, facing an extensive recovery period. The health emergency began during a journey from Mauritius to Dubai approximately two weeks ago, when Mr Lineker believes he contracted a severe infection whilst airborne. He was travelling to attend a one-year anniversary celebration when the illness struck, leaving him completely debilitated and desperate to return home. After flying back on the Friday, he went directly home to rest, but his condition deteriorated dramatically in the early hours. "3am in the morning i woke from my bed and could not walk at that time," he wrote, describing the terrifying moment that prompted him to contact his daughter Tia. (sic) His daughter's mother subsequently arrived at his residence and arranged for an ambulance to transport him to the hospital, where medical staff diagnosed chronic pneumonia. Following his emergency admission, Mr Lineker spent 10 days receiving treatment in intensive care for what medical staff identified as chronic pneumonia. Tom Skinner REFUSES to rule out running for Parliament on GB News The nightclub owner has now been relocated to a respiratory ward, where he confirmed he has left the critical phase of his illness. "Now have been moved to a respiratory ward, it's only now that I feel confident enough in my recovery that I can let everyone know," he shared in his Instagram update. He reported receiving visits from relatives and close friends during his hospitalisation, though he had initially hesitated to make his condition public. Mr Lineker explained his reluctance stemmed from feeling "extremely guilty" about being unable to respond to the numerous well-wishes he anticipated receiving. The Ibiza-based business owner remains completely immobile and anticipates requiring approximately two months of rehabilitation and physiotherapy to regain mobility. "I still cannot walk at all and have around two months rehabilitation and physio ahead of me," he stated in his social media announcement. Mr Lineker emphasised the particular risks associated with contracting pneumonia at 63 years old, describing it as "extremely dangerous" for someone his age. Despite these challenges, he confirmed he has exited the critical phase of treatment and is no longer in intensive care. The respiratory infection, which causes inflammation and fluid accumulation in the lung's air sacs, has left him facing a lengthy recovery process ahead. Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter
